New type of medical antibacterial polypropylene fiber material

The medical protective antibacterial polypropylene fiber material QY40S, jointly developed by Lanzhou Chemical Research Center of China Petroleum and Petrochemical Research Institute and Qingyang Petrochemical, showed excellent performance in long-term antibacterial performance evaluation. After 90 days of initial industrial product placement, the antibacterial rates against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were not less than 99%. The successful development of this product marks another heavyweight product for China Petroleum in the field of medical polyolefins, which will further enhance the competitiveness of China’s polyolefin industry.

Antibacterial grade textiles are widely used and have strong social demand. This year, the global production of spunbond nonwoven fabrics will increase to around 5.5 million tons, of which two-thirds will be used for medical and disposable antibacterial hygiene products. At present, the demand for non-woven fabrics used in medical and disposable antibacterial hygiene products in China is about 320000 tons per year.

The key to developing antibacterial polypropylene fiber materials is to develop antibacterial additives. It can endow polypropylene with antibacterial and anti mold properties, directly determining the quality of antibacterial polypropylene fiber materials. After scientific research and development, Lanzhou Chemical Research Center has developed an efficient composite antibacterial additive for polypropylene fiber materials. It has the characteristics of low addition and uniform dispersion, which can ensure the antibacterial and mildew resistance of polypropylene fiber products while meeting the low ash content requirements of spinning processing technology, and improve the product quality of conventional polypropylene fibers.

As early as December 15, 2021, the new medical protective antibacterial polypropylene fiber material QY40S, which added composite antibacterial additives, successfully completed industrial trial production on the polypropylene plant of Qingyang Petrochemical. During this period, the device operated stably and the product performance fully met the standards. More than 300 tons of qualified products were produced, achieving the first industrial application of high-efficiency composite antibacterial agents in China’s petroleum polypropylene production plant.

Zhenhai Refining and Chemical produces over 10000 tons of specialized non-woven fabric materials!

In April of this year, the production of non-woven fabric special materials by Zhenhai Refining and Chemical in Ningbo, Zhejiang increased to 5000 tons, and sales continued to increase. Based on the conversion of one ton of raw materials into 6500-7000 sets of non-woven fabrics for processing medical protective clothing in the industry, it can support the production of over 70 million sets of medical protective clothing.

It produces non-woven fabric special materials for the production of medical protective clothing fabrics. Non woven fabric special material is a polyolefin raw material processed from petroleum refining, which can be used for the production of non-woven fabrics, an important component of medical protective clothing, and also as mask material.
